Pace of Play Policy
Westwood Golf Club is committed to reasonable pace of play expectations for all guests. In an effort to make rounds of golf enjoyable for all, we employ the following policies regarding Pace of Play:
In the interest of all golfers, please play "Ready Golf" and maintain your position on the course by keeping up with the group in front of you. Slow play WILL NOT be tolerated. Groups falling behind may be asked to pick up the pace, allow others to play through, or skip a hole. If any group does not return to an appropriate position on the course within a reasonable amount of time, you may be asked to leave without refund.
Playing at a better pace is not about rushing around the course. It is simply about being more efficient with your valuable time, as well as everyone else’s. Adopting this mindset – and not being afraid to share it with your fellow players – will ultimately add enjoyment to your golf experience.

Practice Vs. Playing: Know the Difference
Many golfers have a hard time with the mental changes they need to make from the practice range to the first tee. It’s fine to be working on your swing when you’re at the Range or using Trackman, but when you reach the first tee, it would be good to stop thinking about what you’re working on and start thinking about playing golf.
Your practice session is the time to be working on either changing something about your swing or grooving a feeling with something you’re doing right. If you’re using Trackman it’s a time see how far you hit each club, check to see if your club face is open or closed, what your swing path is and so on.  If you’re on the range it’s a good time to practice hitting a draw or slice. Points being you are working on your swing, not playing golf.
Playing the game of golf is about one thing and one thing only: Get the ball from the tee to the green and in the hole in as few strokes as you can. I know that sounds crazy because we all know that’s what it is right? When you’re playing, do you find yourself thinking about keeping your elbow in, staying behind the ball, swinging slow, and not picking your head up? Well if you do, and we all do sometimes, we are still practicing and not playing. The goal while we’re on the course is to get the most out of our imperfect swing. Hit it, go get it, hit it again and try to have some fun!!!!!
Best approach while playing there are some things you can do to have more success while playing. Golf is a target game so always find a target you want to hit the ball to. A target by the way is not the left side of the fairway; it’s a tree on the left side of the fairway. Always aim your club first not your feet. Trust your swing and see the ball flying to your target. Remember, the one thing you can always control is your process or set up. No matter what, stick to your routine and have a target... all GREAT Golfers do. Remember why you're playing, get the ball in the hole, and have fun with your family and friends!!!!!!
